“The Greatest Team
Ever”
Known
as a Basketball Powerhouse
the Kentucky Wildcats are
the winningest basketball
program in NCAA History
and are widely regarded
as the best program in all
of college sports. The 1995-96
Kentucky Wildcats Men’s
Basketball Team was arguably
one of the Greatest Teams
ever assembled, with 7 NBA
First Round Picks, 10 NBA
Players and a 34-2 season,
with a 24.3 average margin
of victory, that capped
off with a NCAA Championship.
With
relentless pressure defensive,
numerous scoring options
and a second string team
that would have been ranked
in the top 10 of any National
Poll this team struck fear
in every opponent. The Wildcats
destroyed and dismantled
opponents with a 1 loss
regular season, and undefeated
SEC regular Season Run prompting
Coach Pitino to label them
“The Untouchables”.
With
the overwhelming success
and Rock Star atmosphere
surrounding the program
the Untouchables where unlike
any other team in college
basketball history. Seemingly
on National Television or
ESPN every night the Wildcats
created a fever pitch atmosphere
in the Basketball Crazed
Bluegrass State.
The
documentary will focus on
every player who played
a key role on the team,
from their signing, or transfer,
and arrival on campus. Follow
the bluegrass faithful along
with UK Alum Ashley Judd
as they describe the roller
coaster ride and the journey
of that magical season.
Exclusive
in-depth interviews, with
players including but not
limited to Derek Anderson,
Antoine Walker, Tony Delk,
Walter McCarty, Scott Padgett,
Wayne Turner, Jeff Sheppard,
Mark Pope, Ron Mercer, Allen
Edwards, Nazr Mohammed,
Jared Pricket, Anthony Epps,
Oliver Simmons, Cameron
Mills. Players will discuss
the intensity and focus
that went into practice,
the close bond of the team,
and rollercoaster ride of
their quest for Greatness.
Each player will discuss
key moments, how much that
season meant to them and
how it still plays an important,
and vital role in their
lives.
Head
Coach Rick Pitino will discuss
what it was like being the
general of the Untouchables,
managing all of that talent,
and keeping the team focused.
Pitino will also reflect
on the memorable season
and what it meant to his
life and career.
The
documentary will also include
interviews, archive footage,
images and flash backs from
current UK Coach John Calipari
(Former UMass Coach), opposing
players and coaches, Former
UK Greats Mike Pratt, Kenny
“Sky” Walker,
Kyle Macy and many others.
